Description

The double seam refers to two parallel lockstitched rows, either produced by a twin-needle machine in one pass or in two separate passes. Mechanically it is about 1.7 times stronger than a single seam (150–220 N/cm) and is used on jeans felled seams, cargo pockets, backpack straps and tent panels.

Needle gauge is typically 6–8 mm (jeans) or 3 mm (polo placket). Stitch density 3–4 per cm, upper and lower thread polyester-core (Amann Saba C). Sample products at Clubmartin: 5-pocket denim (felled seam at inseam), cargo shorts, polo with contrast topstitch. Machines: Juki LH-3568, PFAFF 1245.
