Epaulettes
Also known as: Shoulder straps, Shoulder tabs
Applied shoulder tabs with button – classic on uniform, safari and trekking shirts.
Description
Epaulettes are shoulder tabs applied at the shoulder with a button at the neck end. Historically military (to fix equipment such as binocular straps), today mainly a styling element on safari, trekking and uniform shirts. They are made double-layered from the base fabric, stiffened with fusible interlining (Vlieseline H180) and topstitched with lockstitch class 301 in a double seam (4 mm gauge).
At the button end a bar tack acts as pull safety, at the neck end a needle stitch provides the pivot. Strength 130–180 N. Sample products at Clubmartin: safari shirt, military-look blouse, men's cargo shirt. Sewn on Juki DDL-8700, PFAFF 1246 or Kingtex NLR-3200.
