Hem tape

Narrow woven or non-woven strip with hot-melt adhesive that fixes the hem without sewing — the standard for quick repairs and thin fabrics.
Description
Hem tape is a narrow strip (typical widths 15–25 mm) of non-woven, woven or net carrier with thermoplastic hot-melt adhesive on one or both sides. It is placed between two fabric layers and activated with an iron at 130–170 °C with steam for 8–12 seconds.
Typical uses: quick shortening of trouser and skirt hems, repair of open seams, fixing rolled hems on chiffon, clean edges on lightweight blouses. Wash resistance is usually up to 40 °C (premium up to 60 °C). For sportswear with elastane there are stretch variants with polyurethane adhesive that preserve seam elasticity.
