Shirt-tail hem
Also known as: Curved shirt hem, Tail hem
Curved shirt hem – longer at the back than the front so the shirt stays tucked.
Description
The shirt-tail hem is the classic curved bottom edge of dress shirts: the back panel sits 4–10 cm longer than the front so the tails stay tucked into the trousers. The hem is usually a 5 mm double fold secured by lockstitch (class 301) with 4–5 stitches per cm.
At the side seams small gussets act as a decorative reinforcement. Sewing thread is fine cotton-polyester core Nm 120/2. Sample products at Clubmartin: business slim-fit shirt, casual oxford shirt, ladies' poplin shirt. Strength 90–130 N/cm.
