Shoulder tape
Also known as: Shoulder reinforcement tape
Stabilising twill tape in the shoulder seam – prevents jerseys from stretching out.
Description
The shoulder tape is a narrow (8–12 mm) tear-resistant strip of cotton or polyester twill inserted into the shoulder seam of jersey tops (T-shirts, sweats) and sewn in together with the seam. Purpose: to prevent the shoulder seam from stretching out during wear or washing and elongating the garment.
Sewn with 3- or 4-thread overlock (class 504/512), 4–5 stitches per cm. Seam strength increases by 40–60 % with the tape. Sample products at Clubmartin: crew-neck T-shirt with shoulder tape, merino baselayer, heavyweight sweatshirt. GOTS goods use organic cotton twill.
