Three-step zigzag (elastic stitch)
Also known as: Stretch zigzag, Tricot stitch
Zigzag with three short lockstitches per leg – highly elastic, ideal for elastics.
Description
The three-step zigzag (tricot stitch, ISO 308) splits each zigzag leg into three small forward stitches. This lets the thread sit softly on the fabric and the seam stays intact at 40–70 % stretch without the stitch snapping.
Standard use: sewing on elastics in underwear, sportswear and swimwear, joining neoprene, repairing tears in jersey and attaching drawcords in sports shorts. Sewn on domestic and industrial machines with zigzag capability.
