Garn cord twist (cabled yarn / cord twist)

Multi-stage twisted yarn in which already-plied yarns are re-twisted against their original direction — highly round, dimensionally stable and strong.
Description
Cord twist yarn (also cabled yarn or cable cord) is a yarn made up of at least two already-plied singles that are re-twisted in the opposite direction. Example: two S-twisted 2-ply yarns are then Z-twisted into a 4-ply cable (structure: (2xS) x Z). This twist-on-twist construction neutralises internal stresses and produces a very round, smooth, twist-neutral thread with excellent dimensional stability.
Typical uses are sewing and embroidery threads (e.g. Amann Serafil, Gutermann Mara), premium dress shirts advertised as "two-fold" or "three-fold" poplin, tyre cord in industrial textiles, high-load seam threads for airbags and leather stitching, and Cordura cable yarns for backpack and trekking seams. The extra process step raises material cost by 15–30 percent but delivers outstanding tensile and abrasion resistance plus premium hand and lustre.
