Description
MicroModal is a trademarked fine-fibre variant of Modal by Lenzing AG (Austria). The raw material is FSC-certified beech wood from European forests, spun via a modified viscose process into regenerated cellulose filaments. Single-filament titre is typically below 1 dtex — significantly finer than classic Modal (around 1.3 dtex) and finer than most cotton fibres.
This fineness delivers the characteristic soft, silky hand and a very smooth surface that renders colours particularly vividly. MicroModal absorbs roughly 50 % more moisture than cotton and retains shape after many wash cycles — Modal textiles shrink much less than pure cotton goods.
