Nylon 6.10 (PA 610)

Partly bio-based polyamide from castor oil with lower moisture uptake than PA 6/6.6 — for toothbrushes, fishing lines, technical bristles.
Description
Nylon 6.10 (PA 610) is a copolyamide of hexamethylenediamine and sebacic acid. Because sebacic acid is derived from castor oil, PA 610 is today typically 60–64 % bio-based and hence one of the first large-scale bio-polyamides.
PA 610 has significantly lower moisture uptake (about 2.6 %) than PA 6 or PA 6.6, plus better dimensional stability and higher chemical resistance. Its melting point is around 220 °C. Main apparel and consumer applications are toothbrush bristles (classic DuPont™), brushes, fishing leaders and monofilaments for technical textiles. As an apparel filament PA 6.10 mostly appears in bio-collections as a premium alternative to PA 6.6.

As a fibre PA 610 behaves similarly to PA 6.6 but is more dimensionally stable and usually slightly darker in its natural colour.
