TENCEL Lyocell Carbon Zero
Also known as: Carbon Zero Lyocell, carbon-neutral TENCEL, CarbonNeutral Lyocell
CarbonNeutral-certified variant of Lenzing's TENCEL Lyocell fibre — emissions along the fibre life cycle are reduced and remaining emissions offset via climate protection projects.
Description
TENCEL Lyocell Carbon Zero is a carbon-neutral certified variant of the Lyocell fibre from Austrian producer Lenzing. Like classic TENCEL Lyocell, the fibre is based on wood from controlled, sustainable forestry (mainly eucalyptus and beech) and produced in a closed solvent loop using N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO), in which more than 99 % of the solvent is recovered.
For the Carbon Zero variant Lenzing accounts for the CO2 emissions of the entire fibre production, from wood harvesting to the finished fibre. Emissions are first reduced through renewable energy, efficient production and optimised logistics; the remaining amount is offset via recognised climate protection projects. The result is certified under the CarbonNeutral protocol and can be marketed as a carbon-neutral raw material in sustainable loungewear, business blouses and bed linen.
- Cellulosic fibre from PEFC-/FSC-certified wood
- Closed solvent loop with >99 % NMMO recovery
- Carbon-neutral certified according to the CarbonNeutral Protocol
- Very soft hand, high moisture uptake, low crease tendency
