Twaron®

Para-aramid fibre from Teijin Aramid, chemically comparable to Kevlar®, used for ballistic, cut and heat protection.
Description
Twaron® is the para-aramid fibre from Dutch producer Teijin Aramid B.V. Developed at Akzo (initially under the names Fiber X and Arenka) and commercially introduced in 1987, Twaron® has been part of the Teijin group since 2000. Chemically it is poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide) (PpPTA) — the same base polymer as Kevlar®.
Twaron® is produced in Emmen and Delfzijl in the Netherlands. Applications include ballistic vests and helmets, cut-resistant gloves, brake pads, tyre cord, boat and sail construction and fibre-reinforced composites. The fibre is spun in linear densities from 930 dtex to 3360 dtex.

Like all aramids, Twaron® is UV-sensitive and usually needs protection when used outdoors.
