Viscose-modal blend yarn
Also known as: CV/CMD blend, Viscose/modal
Regenerated cellulose blend of viscose (CV) and modal (CMD) — combines the drape of viscose with the wet strength of modal.
Description
The viscose-modal blend (usually 50/50 or 70/30) combines the fluid drape and cool hand of viscose with the substantially higher wet strength and shape stability of modal. Modal — made by the modified viscose process with highly oriented stretching — reaches about twice the wet tenacity of standard viscose.
The blend is a workhorse for soft T-shirt jerseys, fluid blouses, sleepwear and women's underwear. It shrinks less than pure viscose in washing, keeps the high colour brilliance and stays dimensionally stable at 30–40 °C washes.
- Fluid drape with better shape retention
- Roughly double the wet tenacity of pure viscose
- Very high colour brilliance with reactive dyeing
- Popular for basic jerseys and sleepwear
