Cotton melange
Also known as: Heather Cotton, Melange
Cotton fabric made from differently dyed fibres that blend into a shifting, heathered colour effect.
Description
For cotton melange, differently dyed fibre flocks are blended before spinning, or multi-coloured rovings are twisted together. The classic “heather grey” effect comes for instance from blending white, light grey and dark grey fibres.
Melange fabrics look livelier than solid colours, hide minor stains and creases and are a classic in T-shirts, sweats and loungewear. Melange qualities are often lightly blended with polyester or viscose to create defined colour effects. Pure cotton melanges tend to appear more muted.
- Lively appearance thanks to multi-coloured fibres
- Forgives creases and minor stains
- Often cotton/polyester blends in melange qualities
