Combed cotton

Cotton in which short fibres and impurities have been removed by additional combing — finer and longer-lasting.
Description
In combing, short fibres (below approx. 12.5 mm) and remaining dust are removed from the carded sliver with circular combs. What remains are long, parallel-aligned fibres that are spun into a particularly fine, smooth and strong yarn.
Combed cotton feels softer, is less prone to pilling and holds its colour longer. It is about 10–20 % more expensive than carded cotton and is standard for premium T-shirts, polo shirts and high-thread-count bed linen. Combing loss is around 15 %, which helps explain the higher price.
