Especially fine wool from the Merino sheep — soft, non-scratchy and ideal for sport and functional wear.
Description
Merino wool comes from the Merino sheep, originally from Spain and today mainly from Australia and New Zealand. Fibres are much finer than classic sheep's wool: fine merino is 18–19 µm, superfine and ultrafine even below. This makes merino non-scratchy on the skin.
Merino regulates temperature and moisture excellently, neutralises odour and can be worn directly on the skin. It is standard for premium base layers, sports and outdoor wear, fine sweaters and suit fabrics. The mulesing issue remains critical – mulesing-free certification (ZQ, RWS, GOTS) is preferred.
