Description

“Schwere Baumwolle” is the German-language description of high-grammage cotton fabrics, often used as an alternative to citing gsm. It typically refers to jersey and sweat fabrics from 180 gsm upward, and to heavy canvas or twill qualities for workwear and interiors.

The advantage lies in long life, shape retention and premium drape. It is opaque, tolerates frequent washing and keeps its structure. Downsides are more weight on the body and slower drying.

  • Colloquial synonym for heavyweight
  • Includes jersey, sweat, canvas, twill from 180 gsm
  • Long-lasting, opaque, shape-retaining
  • Popular in workwear and streetwear
