Description

“Woven fleece” describes a woven fabric whose surface is brushed after weaving (with needle rollers) or otherwise finished until it feels as soft and fluffy as classic fleece — technically it stays a fabric with warp and weft, not a knit or a nonwoven like polar fleece. Typical constructions are cotton or cotton/polyester blends for homewear, shirts and light overshirts, plus polyester-dominant builds for workwear and business wear.

Woven fleece is more dimensionally stable and less stretchy than knitted fleece but still very pleasant on the skin. It usually pills less, behaves like a normal woven fabric under printing and embroidery, and cuts cleanly — an advantage over true polar-fleece knits that often shift and pill more easily.

  • Construction: woven fabric (warp/weft), mostly plain or twill
  • Brushed on one or both sides after weaving
  • More stable and print-friendly than knitted fleece
