Micro pique

Finely structured pique knit with very small waffle grid; a dressier polo look than standard pique.
Description
Micro pique is a particularly fine form of pique knit: the waffle grid is much smaller (typically under 1 mm rapport) and looks almost like smooth jersey from a distance; up close the fine grid is visible. Produced on fine-gauge circular machines (24-32 E) with finer cotton yarns (Nm 40-70). It is a knit.
Fabric weights 160-220 g/m², typical materials: mercerised cotton (for lustre), cotton-elastane, cotton-polyester. The hand is smoother and softer than standard pique, with subtle structure — making it dressier and suitable for business polo shirts.
Uses: premium and business polos, dressy polos for corporate wear, polo dresses. Micro pique is often used by brands like Lacoste®, Ralph Lauren® and Hugo Boss® for high-price polos. Advantages: crease-resistant, more stable than single jersey, fine enough to wear under a jacket. Disadvantages: more expensive than standard pique, requires fine needles in production.
