Royal poplin
Also known as: Royal Oxford poplin, Premium poplin
Premium two-ply poplin with very fine thread count (100/2 and finer) — the standard for premium business shirts.
Description
Royal poplin is a fine plain-weave poplin whose warp and weft are made of two-ply yarn at Nm 100/2 (Ne 60/2) or finer counts. The two-ply construction yields a smooth, silky lustrous surface with a very fine cross-rib and minimal shrinkage in washing.
Typical weights range from 110–130 g/m², often with compact-spun yarns for low linting and low needle mark. It is used for premium business shirts, white dress shirts, diplomat shirts and premium blouses. The term Royal Oxford is used for the more armour-like variant with the same ply structure but Panama weave.
