Sheer jersey

Very fine semi-transparent single jersey from filament yarn; light, fluid, often for summer tops.
Description
Sheer jersey is a particularly fine, semi-transparent form of single jersey. Machine gauges are 28-40 E, filament yarns used (polyester, viscose, modal, finest cotton Nm 80-120) are thin and smooth. Fabric weights 70-120 g/m². It is a knit.
The hand is silky, smooth, with soft drape and light sheen. Sheer jersey is highly stretchy, hugs the body and feels cool in summer. Because of its fineness, seams and edges are delicate to construct: rolling edges are bound with tape or hemmed with rolled machine seams.
Uses: summer tops, light dresses, basic shirts, wraps, undershirts. Often used in layered looks. Sheer jersey is prone to snags from hooks and fingernails and needs gentle washing. Man-made fibre content (polyester, elastane) increases dimensional stability.
