Description
Slub jersey is a single jersey knit from slub yarn. Slub yarn has deliberately spun thickenings (slubs) and thinner sections, giving the finished knit an irregular, lively surface with vintage character. The slubs are purely optical/tactile without functional purpose. It is a knit.
Fabric weights 140-200 g/m², machine gauges 20-28 E. Materials: cotton (standard), cotton-linen blends (strong slub effect), cotton-viscose (soft drape). The hand is textured, in contrast to smooth single jersey.
Slub jersey has been popular since the 2000s as a retro look in casual and boho segments: for T-shirts, long sleeves, light tunics and loose dresses. It clearly differs visually from smooth jersey and looks more premium than a plain basic jersey. Processing is like standard jersey, but slubs can be sensitive on fine needles. In trade often relabelled as flame jersey or mélange jersey.
