Viscose jersey (woven variant)

Woven viscose jersey is a fine, softly lustrous fabric that looks like a knitted jersey but is actually woven in a plain or fine satin structure. It combines the cooling, absorbent hand of viscose (a cellulose regenerated fibre from beech or eucalyptus wood) with the soft flow and drape of jersey.

Typical weights are 90–130 gsm. The fabric skims the body fluidly, is noticeably cooler than cotton (viscose conducts heat about 30 % better) and absorbs up to 40 % moisture without feeling wet. Downsides: viscose loses roughly 50 % of its tensile strength when wet, can shrink at 60 °C and creases easily — Ecovero and Lenzing Modal certifications identify material from closed-loop pulp systems.

• Fluid drape like silk jersey but more affordable
• Often blended with 3–5 % elastane for extra stretch
• Hand wash or 30 °C delicate cycle recommended
• Never tumble-dry (heavy shrinkage possible)
