Micro fleece

Lightweight fleece grade made from very fine polyester microfibres for base and mid layers.
Description
Micro fleece is a particularly light version of standard polyester fleece with weights of 130-190 g/m². Microfilament yarns below 1 dtex per filament are knitted on fine circular machines (24-28 gauge), usually as single jersey with subsequent double-sided brushing. The pile is very short (0.8-1.5 mm) and dense, giving a velvety, smooth surface.
The thin construction makes micro fleece highly breathable and quick drying, ideal as a base layer under softshells or hardshells and as a light mid layer for aerobic activities such as running, cycling or hiking. Due to the reduced thickness it insulates less than 200- or 300-weight fleece but packs down superbly.
Care: 30 °C, no fabric softener, low tumble dry. Downside: fine fibres tend to shed slightly more microplastics per wash than coarser filaments; Guppyfriend bags and modern washing machine fibre filters reduce this significantly. Recycled polyester is becoming the standard.
