Molton (unbrushed)

Non-raised cotton molton with a plain surface for decoration, packing and technical uses.
Description
Unbrushed molton is the raw variant — a plain- or twill-weave cotton fabric of 160-260 g/m² without raising. The surface is smooth, matt and less opaque than brushed molton but more dimensionally stable and free of lint. Coarse-spun cotton yarns are typical, often at 12-16 threads/cm warp density.
Without raising the soft, warming hand is missing; the material instead serves as decoration base, for packing (furniture transport, moving molton), as filter aid in cheese production and as dust-binding cleaning cloth. It is also used as bed backing (mattress protector) and as felt substitute in the paper industry.
Care: 60 °C, no fabric softener, tumble as needed. Organic cotton GOTS certified available. Environmental benefits: no microplastics, biodegradable. Downside: higher weight per insulation than raised versions; rarely suited to clothing, mainly industry and decoration.
