Sofspun quality
Also known as: Sofspun®
Trademarked extra-soft spun cotton quality by Fruit of the Loom and B&C for T-shirts.
Description
Sofspun® is a trademarked cotton quality by Fruit of the Loom and B&C in which ring-spun cotton yarns are processed with particularly soft twist and fine combing (Ne 30/1 and finer). Fibres are extra combed before spinning (short fibres < 12 mm are removed), producing a smoother, more even yarn.
The fabric is knitted on circular machines in single jersey at 24-28 gauge and then treated with bio-enzymes that break down protruding fibre ends and silken the surface. Typical fabric weight is 150-165 g/m² for T-shirts. Sofspun® feels considerably softer and smoother than standard ring-spun cotton, has better drape and shrinks less.
Uses: promotional and fashion T-shirts, polos, long-sleeves. Care: 30-40 °C, no fabric softener needed, medium tumble, minimal shrinkage thanks to compacting. Benefit: excellent printability (DTG, screen, transfer) and lower pilling propensity. Drawback: higher price than standard ring-spun.
