Unbrushed

Unbrushed refers to the finish of a fabric that has not been raised. The surface stays smooth, yarn structure is visible, the material keeps the original hand from weaving or knitting. Typical applications are French terry (loopback without raising), unbrushed molton as technical decoration fabric and light sweatwear for transitional seasons.

Advantages: lint is low, the fabric pills less, colour depth appears sharper, weight can be higher at equal insulation requirement (volume comes from structure, not pile). For sportswear unbrushed is often preferred because moisture wicks away faster and the material stores less water when wet.

Drawbacks: less insulation at equal weight, less opacity, less soft hand on the back. Care is significantly easier — higher wash temperatures (40-60 °C) are possible, less felting risk. For sportswear and summer sweat the preferred state.
