Full-plied rib

Rib knit made entirely of plied yarn — particularly shape-retentive and durable, classic for cuffs.
Description
Full-plied rib refers to a 1x1 or 2x2 rib knit made exclusively of plied yarn (two- or three-ply). Two-ply yarns such as Ne 20/2 or 30/2 mean two fine singles twisted together with counter twist. This yields a balanced, twist-stable thread with better roundness, higher tenacity and much reduced curl at cut edges.
Fabric weights are typically 220-320 g/m². The main benefit is significantly improved shape and recovery: full-plied rib cuffs stay tight after hundreds of washes without stretching out — essential for premium sweatshirts, workwear and safety wear. Plied ribs also shrink less in the wash.
Material is usually plied ring-spun cotton Ne 20/2 to 30/2, often with 3-6% elastane. Care: 30-40 °C, no fabric softener, low tumble. Full-plied rib is recognisable in premium collections by its smoother, denser rib look and a firm, robust hand compared with single-yarn fine rib.
